The Little Champions project responded directly to Canada's growing inactivity crisis - a challenge identified nationally as a priority for children's health and wellness. By adapting an established Québec-based physical literacy resource for Ontario classrooms, this project pioneered an approach that other provinces can learn from.
Helping children build strong movement habits early can reduce healthcare costs down the road and support healthier, more productive communities for years to come.
By giving early childhood educators new, evidence-based tools, we helped create more inclusive and active childcare spaces, further supporting children's development in body, mind, and confidence.
Little Champions' interACTIVE storytelling brought movement and play into early learning in a way that was meaningful and creative, reinforcing that active play is just as vital to childhood as reading a story.
This project deepened understanding of how provincial curriculum shapes the way physical literacy resources are used in real classrooms. These insights can inform how other provinces adapt similar programs.
